PM Olmert Visits Haifa Multi-disciplinary Center for Sexual Assault Victims

25/12/2007

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, today, visited a multi-disciplinary center for sexual assault victims in Haifa.  He was accompanied by Health Minister Yaacov Ben-Yizri, Prime Minister’s Office Director-General Ra’anan Dinur, PMO Authority for the Advancement of the Status of Women (http://tinyurl.com/aet8j) Director Marit Danon, Haifa Mayor Yonah Yahav and other senior Government and medical officials.

Prime Minister Olmert said that violence against women is not the problem of women alone but is an issue that must concern everyone. “Violence against women is not just their concern but affects their family and social circles as well as Israeli society as a whole.”
In recognition of the importance of the issue, Prime Minister Olmert, last year, approved an approximately NIS 30 million budget for 2007-2008, for the operation of two inter-ministerial plans regarding violence against women.
