Prime Minister Ariel Sharon telephoned
Ukraine President Viktor Yushchenko and congratulated him both on his recent
election victory and on forming his government.

Prime Minister Sharon invited Ukrainian President Yushchenko to visit Israel
and said that he was interested in developing bilateral relations.

Ukrainian President Yushchenko said that Ukraine was a friend of Israel and
ascribed great importance to relations with it.
