Prime Minister Ariel Sharon spoke this evening, with European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, who had telephoned to congratulate him on the Sharm el-Sheikh summit and the meetings that he held there.
The Prime Minister said that while the summit was important and could symbolize a good start, the Palestinians must take steps to halt terrorist actions such as occurred today in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Sharon said that he is committed to implementing the Disengagement Plan, and if there is quiet and the Palestinians implement their commitments, it would be possible to begin implementing the Roadmap.
EU High representative Solana told the Prime Minister that he was a courageous man who was leading the Disengagement Plan with determination, despite all the problems [facing him].
