Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in consultation with Education, Culture and Sports Minister Limor Livnat, this evening (Sunday), 19.6.05, asked Deputy Minister MK Majalli Whbee to serve as Deputy Minister in the Education, Culture and Sports Ministry.  Deputy Minister Whbee agreed; his duties will be agreed upon in the coming days.  Deputy Minister Whbee will continue to fulfill special missions that Prime Minister Sharon may assign to him periodically.

Deputy Minister Michael Melchior will be appointed Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and will be responsible for social and Diaspora affairs and the struggle against anti-Semitism.  Prime Minister Sharon spoke to Deputy Minister Melchior earlier today and instructed him on his responsibilities.  Deputy Minister Melchior’s appointment was made in consultation with Vice Premier Shimon Peres.
