Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this morning (Tuesday), 21.3.06, met with former Supreme Court President Meir Shamgar, Israel Democracy Institute member Prof. Aryeh Carmon, former Labor MK Uzi Baram and other IDI members, who have sought to expedite the process of legislating a constitution for Israel.

Acting Prime Minister Olmert said that he would consider introducing, into the coalition agreements, a commitment to passing a constitution on its first reading.  He emphasized that he supports passing a constitution and added that he believes that this both possible and urgent.
