Following are excerpts from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's radio remarks today to the residents of Eilat: "Dear residents of Eilat, I am pleased to greet you on the 58th anniversary of the city's liberation. The story of the liberation of Eilat, which was then called Um Rashrash, by the Golani and Negev brigades is one of the most moving in the history of Israel. But no less moving is to look at the city today and see how a beautiful city has grown, a city that draws very many people to it from both Israel and the world. (…). Only three weeks have passed since a despicable terrorist act was perpetrated here in which three city residents lost their lives. Those who try to instill fear into the heart of the resort city will not succeed, just as they have not in Jerusalem, Netanya and Tel Aviv. Tourists will continue to come here. City residents ill continue to receive them and see to it that their stay is even more pleasant. (…)."
