The team that is formulating recommendations and conclusions on the issue of recognizing, and showing appreciating for, Holocaust survivors in Israel is due to conclude its work in the coming days. The team, which was established in accordance with a November 2007 Government decision, was appointed by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and dealt with three issues: 1) Personal and group recognition and appreciation, 2) historical commemoration via Holocaust survivors living in Israel and 3) forging links between Holocaust survivors and young people. The team began work approximately one month ago and was instructed by Prime Minister Olmert to submit its recommendations by the end of February 2008 so that its conclusions could be implemented during the State of Israel’s 60th year.
