At a meeting today, with Cabinet Secretary Oved Yehezkel, it was decided that the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, under the leadership of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, would assist the state in funding Project Heftzibah – a Jewish studies project in Eastern Europe. The project was in danger of closing after the Jewish Agency stopped participating in its financing, which created an immediate shortfall of NIS 3.5 million. The IFCJ has committed to transferring the sum. Along with the budget being transferred by the Finance and Education ministries, a way has thus been found to continue the project at Jewish institutions in Eastern Europe.
